Anger Doesn't Work With Children
Anger simply doesn't work most of the time in terms of influencing the behavior of others - especially your children. As we teach in our anger management classes, the purpose of anger expression is usually to get your children to do something, but it is ineffective and has many negattive consequences. In short, there is a huge downside with little upside in terms of changing things.
The best analogy I've read lately explaining why anger doesn't work as discipline technique is provided by Dr. Dobson, president of the nonprofit organization "Focus On the Family." In this article he says that disciplinary action influences behavior; anger does not. We fully agree with this position. What do you think? Read it here
